Collage finished

I had a flash of inspiration just before falling asleep on Saturday. An idea on how to finish that collage I had started on a whim. It was the three segments I had sort of found myself with that suggested it. Well, that and, I suppose, the fact that we were still celebrating my daughter’s first birthday. So why not make it a collage for her, to celebrate the fact that she is born? And so in came the bird, the nest, and of course, her picture. And a funny little memory I wanted to preserve. The very moment Caterina was born she was delightfully white and pink—she reminded me of strawberries and cream. Then they put her in a warmed crib (a routine procedure which, they told me, helps prevent jaundice) and she became lobster red—and stayed red for a good three weeks afterwards. All her newborn pictures were taken in the lobster phase, so I thought it would be nice to remember that very first, lovely white and pink moment.

This is a lovely piece. How big is it? Your writing add that personal touch.

Gorgeous! Your baby AND your collage. I’m sure it will be treasured. And the writing is sweet and sentimental and the perfect addition to the piece.
