First steps in mixed media art

Yesterday, we went to buy some canvases (two for me, two for Niccolo) to play with. Then we decided to go for a walk in the park. We were peacefully ambling along, when Nicco said:

“Let’s race.”

“Fine,” I replied, even though my heart sank at the idea of running or jumping. “What kind of race?”

“Let’s see who can find more things to stick on our canvases.”

Now that’s my kind of race!

So we got daisies, forget-me-nots, leaves, sticks and all sorts of ‘found objects’ that are now waiting to make their way onto our canvases in what will be Nico’s first foray in mixed media art (although he has already altered a book). My husband, who I am sure is slightly worried at the idea of having such an artsy son, took him to play rugby in the afternoon, just to balance things out.
