Welcome to my corner of loveliness. Here, I write about the pretty little treasures that make my every day life more pleasurable.
How I make my world prettier
I make most of my little treasures—pastel coloured collages featuring Edwardian ephemera, my family pictures and plenty of lace, altered images that magically turn my chubby two year old and rambunctious six year old into Victorian cherubs or simply a fragrant, flowery cup of Tie Kuan Yin tea — so I often write about techniques I am learning or refining, ideas, sights, sounds that inspire me and new art forms I am starting to explore.
Other things I just stumble across and chronicle through my photographs, such as blooming spring flowers, a magical sunset or a ladybird climbing a blade of grass.
And a few more things I collect—an antique porcelain doll, maybe, floral trade cards from the Victorian era, or a soft pillowcase dress scattered with tiny roses—so I occasionally write about what I have sourced and profile artist and craftspeople that bring loveliness into my life.
Why not make your world prettier too?
Surrounding myself with sweet little eye candy really makes my days more pleasurable so I thought I could share my experience and perhaps inspire you to imbue your own life with beauty.
Take a look around the site. Perhaps making a simple, delicate watercolour background will tickle your fancy. Maybe you’ll like the idea of creating a digital base for your collages or an altered genealogy scrapbook. And I hope that some of the collage paper I design and give away will prompt you to make something special.
